I am going to ask you to put on your imaginary thinking cap and follow along. Ready? Okay, let’s go, but let’s start at the beginning. The beginning is where you rationalize out how you see and think about yourself. This is important because to a very large extent, it’s an indication of the way others see and think about you. You may not fully understand what I’m saying here, right now, but humor me and follow along because it’ll be well worth your time.
Now I could cover a large area with this about the multiple benefits of right thinking, but I want to focus in on what your self perception specifically has to do with your online business success by asking you a question. Do you see or think of yourself as a marketing sales person? Whatever your answer, it’s a strong indication of how others think about and see you. The reason this is important in an online business is because unless others see you as a successful marketing sales person, your business is doomed to inevitable failure. A sure fire remedy or quick fix to prevent this from ever happening is to see yourself as a successful marketing sales person and eventually others will see this too.
The fact is when you’re in business for yourself – whether you like it or not, whether you feel like you’re good at it or not – whether you see yourself as a successful marketing sales person,” you are, nevertheless, a marketing sales person. The question is, are you going to change your thinking so you’ll be successful at it?
It seems that everybody loves a winner and that nobody has time for a looser. This admonition reflects a great truth in life that you can use advantageously to build and grow your online business. If you want others to buy the products and services you recommend, you must learn to project the persona of a successful marketing sales person. Most importantly get into the habit of right thinking about yourself. And secondly, spruce up your writing skills, your website layout and graphics, and so forth to reflect that you are a successful marketing sales person. I tell my marketing clients and all those who have read and attended my various marketing presentations that the two greatest assets you posses are your Attitude and Belief. Let’s break apart and discuss at varying lengths the three attributes: belief, attitude, and persistent. Keep in mind that both attitude and persistence are the offspring of belief.
Attitude: Regardless of what product or service you promote you should be enthusiastic and passionate about your value proposition to the marketplace. Now if you didn’t exactly get that, let me put it this way. When you believe that the products and services you offer can provide helpful solutions to the problems your clients are facing, it is picked up by them through the way you write and present your offers. Developing this belief system within yourself magnetically energizes and causes you to feel good and confident about yourself because you are doing everything for the benefit of your clients and this is perceived by existing and prospective clients.
Let’s talk more about belief: Ordinary people have dramatically changed and transformed their lives merely by changing their belief system. When you have a strong belief, you don’t have to have a degree in marketing to get great marketing results. This statement is not to demise the value of learning all you can about marketing, but rather to emphasize the value of belief. When you believe in yourself you are motivated to take action to bring about your success. Belief is a strong deterrent to procrastination. A strong belief that you can succeed in an online business can become a self-fulfilling prophecy that‘ll cause you to learn, apply, and take action to get better marketing results. Start believing in yourself!
Lastly, let’s talk about persistence. A simple definition of persistence is when an individual sets his sight on a cherished goal like building a successful online business or some other goal they fancy and starts taking action to make it a reality. You might say that persistence is to an individual what carbon is to steel; whereas carbon gives strength to steel, belief gives power or empowers and predisposes one to success.
If you’re persistent in building your online business marketing with a positive attitude and belief that you can succeed, you’ll be like the Duracell battery commercial – you’ll keep going or persisting in bringing about the success of your business and sooner or later you’ll find what works for you.
